All about me:
Well, you asked for it! I was born in Shreveport, LA . At an early age, I realized that brothers and sisters would become competition for parental affection, so I took precautions to ensure that they disappeared. What?! This is MY story and I'll tell it how I like it. Oh! You want the truth. Well...why didn't you say so!
Well, I really am an only child, but it had nothing to do with me. My parents made up for their lack of progeny, other than me obviously, by adopting cats. Let me tell you, they are much better siblings than Human children. I very rarely argue with my furred siblings and I never had problems with them being in my room. ANYWAY, I started homeschooling in 1994-95, somewhere around there.
If you are considering homeschooling, I recommend it. Is it easy? NO, but rewarding for both the parents and the kids. If we could do it, so could you. The down side of homeschooling is lack of social opportunities inherant in the schooling. In other words: you have to make your own socialization. We did this through Church and our homeschool group.
Let me dither here a moment. A few years into homeschooling, we switched to Willow Point Baptist Church. It was here that I met my best friends Will, Ryan, and Justin. Oh, there were more, but to list them all would take too long. This change had a lot to do with how I turned out and brought me closer to the Lord.
Okay, so years passed with nothing to tell about. Then I turned 17. Ah, yes. What a year. You see, up till then, God had been providing me with dreams. Dreams of voilence and peace, dreams of allies and enemies, dreams of being a Soldier. They took many forms and came in a variety of shape, sizes, and colors, but they all shared one interesting side affect: I remembered them. This is one of the easiest ways to determine if He is speaking through your dreams, btw. I almost never remember my dreams, yet I remember every one of these, and they kept coming back. It even got to where I would look forward to them.
These dreams, and much much more, led me to join the Army in 2002. Not an easy thing for one who shunned hard labor and exercise, not to mention diet, before then, but God soon made it plain to me that I would join regardless or my wishes, isn't it better to just go along? When I started the paperwork for Basic Training, I weighed 215lbs. It was all fat. Yes, I was a chubby kid, live with it.
When I went home for Christmas leave, I weighed 145lbs. I was 140 by the time I graduated. Let's just say that Basic took longer for me because I was weak: weak willed and weak muscled. Needless to say, it wasn't easy.
Now, I am a Specialist(E-4 [out of 9]) in 2/82 Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. As of the typing of this site, I had been deployed in OIF II in Camp Victory, Iraq and am currently deployed in LSA Anaconda, Iraq. I am also due to be married to the most wonderful woman of all time. Yes, you already know her name, but I will supply it here for people with no taste)or different taste than mine, which may be the same thing): Jamie McCraken. We are due to be married on the 23rd of February 2008. If you'd like to attend, and have not already been invited, let me know so that we can add you in.
